Privacy
uCue is run by Deaf Choices UK Limited, a registered charity in England and Wales (number 279523) and a company limited by guarantee (number 01477997), of The Boatshed, Steamer Quay Road, Totnes, TQ9 5AL. We are the data controller for the information described here. If you have a question or want to use any of your rights, email jacobcalder.video@gmail.com.
What we hold
- Your email address, which is how you sign in. We don't use passwords.
- Your account: when it was created, your free trial dates, whether you have free access, and your subscription status.
- A sign-in session, stored as one cookie on your device (below). We also note which browser it was made with.
- A Stripe customer reference, if you subscribe, so we can match your payment to your account. We never see your card details.
- Your IP address and email address in short-lived counters, used to stop people sending large numbers of sign-in codes. They are deleted after two days.
The words you translate are not linked to your account. Words uCue hasn't seen before are kept, without anything about who typed them, so they translate faster next time.
Why we hold it
To provide the service you've signed up for (the lawful basis is the contract between us), and to keep it secure and stop misuse (our legitimate interests). We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it except as described below.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts uCue and sends our emails. Your account is stored in Cloudflare's Western Europe region.
- Stripe, trading as Onelink, takes subscription payments as the seller of record. Onelink holds your payment details and is responsible for them under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and analytics
uCue sets one cookie, better-auth.session_token, which keeps you signed
in. It's strictly necessary, so we don't ask for consent. We count page visits with
Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn't identify you.
How long we keep it
Your account stays until you delete it. Sign-in sessions expire after 90 days without use. When you delete your account, we cancel any subscription and remove your information straight away, including the customer record at Stripe. Onelink keeps its own record of past payments, as a seller must. Records of changes our staff made to your account (for example, granting free access) are kept so we can account for them, and list only your email address.
Your rights
You can see the email address we hold and delete your account yourself from your account page. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to stop using it, by emailing jacobcalder.video@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
